Leaders In Training (LIT) Program
Rising 6th-9th Graders

The Winged Lions Leader in Training Program is a leadership development program that will challenge your campers! Our LIT's will explore their curiosities in depth while developing skills specific to their chosen interest area through innovative and engaging weekly experiences. As an LIT, your camper will develop confidence from demonstrating what they've learned each week, as well as build character through activities that emphasize personal, social, and ecological responsibility.

What does a day at camp look like for the lit's?

We focus on personal identity, peer relationships, and connecting to our SummerWorks camp community.  We are taking an even more outdoor/experience based focus this year as our lens to address personal identity, friendship among our LITs, and their place and responsibilities at camp.  Each week the group will take up to 4 day-long field trips to outdoor locations where they will play games, go on hikes, and participate in service projects. LIT's will also participate in daily goal setting and reflection time to think about what they are experiencing. There is nothing that makes us more happier than seeing our LIT's grow to become our future staff members! Over the years many of our most exceptional camp counselors participated in the LIT program as campers.

MORNING ACTIVITIES

Campers pre-register for the activity that they would like to participate in for the week! Whether it's going climbing at The Front, Creative Art, Yoga, Sports, or Science-there's an option for all!

LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Each week our LIT's practice their leadership skills! This can include planning an activity for a younger age group, leading a camp song, and helping put together our all camp Friday Events!

SERVICE PROJECT

Our LIT's head off campus to complete a service project within the community each week. In previous summers, places we've volunteered include Red Butte Garden, Utah Food Bank, Tracy Aviary, and the YWCA.

FIELD TRIPS
Each week our LIT's go on a field trip-just for fun! The Utah Arts Festival, Snowbird Activity Center, and the Midway Crater are some of our favorite places to visit every summer!

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE TRIP
Once a week our LIT's put on their hiking boots and head into nature! Donut Falls, Fifth Water Hotsprings, and the Living Room are some of their favorite spots to go!
