Introduction

The SummerWorks Counselor in Training (CIT) program is an opportunity for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to participate, observe, and gain the necessary skills to one day be the best possible future camp staff. This program is designed for professional growth, with the experience being as rewarding as the effort invested. Throughout the program, CITs are mentored by seasoned camp staff who will help them grow and succeed, while allowing them to take on increasing levels of responsibility. CITs also have the chance to meet new friends, create lasting memories, gain experience working with children, and be part of a close-knit, supportive team.

Preferred Skills & Requirements

  • Flexible, caring, and enthusiastic disposition
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model for young children
  • Collaborates and works well with others
  • Openness to learning from mistakes and trying new things
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Parent or guardian permission is required to participate

Earn while you learn! CITs receive an hourly wage for assisting at camp.

Confidence & Independence

CITs develop self-confidence by taking on new challenges and responsibilities. 
 

Certificate of Completion

At the end of the summer, CITs receive a certificate of completion, which they can list on their CVs.

Work Experience 

By helping with daily camp operations, CITs gain invaluable experience in childcare, education, and related fields.
