SummerWorks Leos
For campers entering 1st-5th grade
For campers entering 1st-5th grade
Our Leos take summer by storm during their fun-filled days at SummerWorks! Each week our Leos pursue personal curiosities through weekly enrichment activities, while continuing to explore new interests through physical activity, art and creative expression, and outdoor adventures. With their team of counselors by their side, the Leos campers continue to develop important traits through personal responsibility and through activities that encourage responsibility towards the community and their peers.

PM Choice Activities
Monday-Thursday, all Leos will have the opportunity to choose a PM choice activity for the day. They will have the opportunity to do the same activity or a variety of activities three afternoons together. (The other two afternoons will be spent on a field trip and in our Friday PM Fun.) Choice is important for kids and this is an opportunity for our campers to think about what they enjoy and to make their own choice in how they want to spend their time at camp.
Book It!
We love to read at SummerWorks – not only does it promote and support literacy skills, but it is fun and provides a great way to explore and join together in our den groups. Our Leos will participate in 30 minutes of a literacy activity daily, together as a den or at times, individually. Activities may include: reading together aloud, a visit from Rob – our favorite King's English storyteller, a visit with the Intermountain Therapy Animals “Reading-Education-Assistance-Dogs”, visits to our Rowland Hall library, or quiet reading or journaling time. *Due to our commitment as a camp to spend the summer “Un-Plugged,” there will be no use of electronics of any sort during this time. Thank you for your support.
Field Trips
All Leos will participate in at least one off-campus field trip per week. Off-campus adventures are a highlight of our week at Summer Works. Each field trip offers campers the opportunity to explore, learn, and have a blast in a unique way. We travel to field trips venues in Rowland Hall buses that are driven only by our certified Rowland Hall drivers. Campers are trained in bus safety, as well as how to stay safe when traveling off site. All campers and staff wear their Summer Works t-shirts on field trip days so that the group is easily visible and recognizable.
Pool Time at The Steiner Aquatic Center
Stay Tuned!
We Hope that swim time this summer will be a part of our PM Choice Activities. If your camper chooses to swim, they will have the opportunity to choose to do so up to three afternoons/week. Please note, this swim time for the Leos campers is recreational swimming, not instructional; we do not offer formal swim lessons for our Leos campers.
Friday Finale & Thank You Ceremony
We end each SummerWorks week with a bang! Every Friday morning we come together as a camp for a fun all-Leo event and to recognize and thank outstanding campers during our Friday Thank You ceremony. Our Thank You ceremony is paired with our only "sweet treat" snack of the week - an ice cream/popsicle treat. We end on a celebratory note, sharing a treat with our friends...until next week!
