Introduction
At SummerWorks, we believe that you have fun at camp no matter your age. Summertime is valuable; it's a time to relax, make connections with friends, and have fun. As a young adult, it's also a great time to grow professionally and independently, which is where our Counselor in Training internship comes in handy.
The SummerWorks Counselor in Training (CIT) program is an opportunity for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to participate, observe, and gain the necessary skills to one day be the best possible future camp staff. This program is designed for professional growth, with the experience being as rewarding as the effort invested. Throughout the program, CITs are mentored by seasoned camp staff who will help them grow and succeed, while allowing them to take on increasing levels of responsibility. CITs also have the chance to meet new friends, create lasting memories, gain experience working with children, and be part of a close-knit, supportive team.
Preferred Qualifications
As a Counselor in Training, you'll learn the ins and outs of becoming a future camp counselor. The following are some preferred qualifications to be a CIT:
- Displaying professionalism and high integrity to be a good role model for children
- A flexible, caring, enthusiastic disposition
- Collaborating and working well with others
- An openness to making mistakes and trying new things
- Excellent communication skills

Earn Money
Counselors in Training are paid interns and will earn an hourly income for helping around camp.
Confidence & Independence
CITs develop self-confidence by taking on new challenges and responsibilities.
Certificate of Completion
At the end of the summer, CITs receive a certificate of completion, which they can list on their CVs.
Work Experience
By helping with daily camp operations, CITs gain invaluable experience in childcare, education, and related fields.
