COMMUNITY PARTNERS

WASATCH COMMUNITY GARDENS

Picture

MISSION

The mission of Wasatch Community Gardens is to empower people of all ages and incomes to grow and eat healthy, organic, local food.  We believe the quality of a community is directly related to the quality of its food. We exist to build community by providing the space to garden, the expertise to assist others, and the education to empower current and future generations of organic gardeners. By doing so, we improve more than our community's green space. We improve its health, vitality, and self-reliance. Find out more by exploring our many different programs, workshops, events, and volunteer opportunities.

This summer our Cubs and Leos will have the opportunity to visit Wasatch Community Gardens and participate in their youth programs intended to connect urban youth in the Salt Lake Valley with fresh, local food and community through hands-on, outdoor learning in our youth gardens.

These visits to Wasatch Community Gardens are intended to:
  • Enhance Each organization's positive impact in the community.
  • Expand the reach of each organization serving youth and providing fresh, healthy food.
  • Ensure fun, exciting garden-based activities for youth in Salt Lake City
  • Provide knowledgeable instructors and a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Engage students in experience-based educational activities at the Grateful Tomato Garden (800 S 600 E, Salt Lake City, UT)
  • Encourage guided exploration to connect youth to food, health, science and community.
  • Provide opportunities for students to pick, eat, and prepare fresh, food and plants.

THE FRONT CLIMBING CLUB
Picture

The Front is Salt Lake's premiere spot to climb, do yoga, and recreate year-round. Built within striking distance of the Wasatch, we've created an indoor rock utopia with over 20,000 square feet of bouldering and roped climbing walls as well as a fully stocked gym.
Plus, we provide a broad range of yoga classes, youth programming and camps, adult climbing instruction, and the largest selection of climbing gear around.

For the second summer we will be partnering with the Front Climbing Club as part of our daily enrichment options and field trips.  At The Front our campers will work on building both physical and emotional strength while in the capable, well trained, and safety oriented hands of the Front's amazing staff!

The week-long program combines the best of our 10-week school year program with all the fun of camp!
Girls enjoy being physically active, expressing creativity through arts and crafts and storytelling and engaging in interactive lessons all while building friendships in a fun and inclusive setting.
Girls that sign up for this option will attend Camp GOTR from 9am-1pm and then head over to the Summerworks Camp with the Rowland Hall staff for the afternoon!
